In this guide we'll explain the Bad Luck Jackpot, as well as cover some strategies to maximise the amount of loot you get from the Bad Luck Jackpot.
Firstly, though, why should you care? After all, the Bad Luck Jackpot is just a slot machine.
The way I see things is that it's important to optimise things as much as possible, because the more efficiently you make progress in the game, the more money you're able to make via NFTs and the Blockchain.
Also, if you don't care about making money from the game, understanding how to optimise the Bad Luck Jackpot will help you make more progress in the game, for instance by getting further into the Campaign Tower and helping you complete more Achievements.
For those of you who are more experienced with the Bad Luck Jackpot and Clash of Streamers, feel free to skip the next section and get straight to the strategies (chapter 3 onwards).
Where is the Bad Luck Jackpot Located?
For those of you who don't know, the Bad Luck Jackpot is located at the top of your screen and is available to see from most buildings and menus in the game:
What is the Bad Luck Jackpot?
The Bad Luck Jackpot is a slot machine that rewards you with loot on successful spins. In order to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot you need a currency called VIP Tickets, and you're also able to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot with multiple VIP tickets at once.
Here's what it looks like:
How do you get VIP Tickets in Clash of Streamers?
VIP Tickets are required to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot. Whenever you get 10M Jackpot Points, you'll be able to click the bar at the top of the Bad Luck Jackpot and convert them to 100 VIP Tickets. You can also get VIP Tickets directly as well.
Here are some of the buildings and menus that you can obtain Jackpot Points and VIP Tickets from:
- Campaign Tower
- Casino Buildings (Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Bingo)
- Slot Machines (Bad Luck Jackpot, Athene's Church, Community Building)
- Get Lucky Wheel
- Chests (from Achievements, Casino Games, Arena, Best Game, etc)
- Merchant
- Marketplace
- VIP Shop (at VIP Level 4)
- Etc
The Jackpot Mechanic
The Bad Luck Jackpot has a jackpot which gives you a large sum of Gems when you hit the jackpot.
Each spin that you don't hit the jackpot, the jackpot is increased up to a maximum value of 200M Gems (if you spun for 100 VIP Tickets).
You're able to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot with multiple VIP Tickets at once:
- 1 Ticket
- 2 Tickets
- 3 Tickets
- 5 Tickets
- 10 Tickets
- 25 Tickets
- 50 Tickets
- And 100 Tickets
However, only 1 of these VIP Ticket amounts is the best to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot with. I actually don't know the answer to this question, so lets do an experiment and find out.
I will spin 1,000 VIP tickets at 10 VIP Tickets per spin, and I will spin 1,000 VIP Tickets at 1 VIP Ticket per spin, and then we'll compare the loot to see which is better.
Now, you might be wondering
'Why is he randomly choosing 10 VIP tickets per spin?'
Well, things in this game scale in a way which makes sense, so my hypothesis is that if 10 VIP Tickets give worse rewards than 1 VIP Ticket, then 100 VIP Tickets will also give worse rewards than both 1 VIP and 10 VIP Tickets.
If using 10 VIP Tickets give better rewards than using 1 per spin, then I'll test higher VIP Ticket amounts.
Alright, I've spun the Bad Luck Jackpot and here are the rewards:
10 VIP Tickets Per Spin (1,000 VIP Tickets Total)
Gems: 1,290,000
Athene Coins: 6
Community Chips: 7
VIP Tickets: 23
Casino Chips: 124
Get Lucky Chips: 4
TriHard Scrolls: 8
Kappa Scrolls: 2
PogChamp Orbs: 0
Mega Chips: 0
Madness Chips: 0
Bad Luck Jackpot Points: 3696k
1* Level 1 Streamers: 838
*Please note that the actual streamers were converted to 1* Level 1 Streamers for simplicity sake.
1 VIP Ticket Per Spin (1,000 VIP Tickets Total)
Gems: 979,250
Athene Coins: 2
Community Chips: 0
VIP Tickets: 3
Casino Chips: 226
Get Lucky Chips: 0
TriHard Scrolls: 8
Kappa Scrolls: 0
PogChamp Orbs: 0
Mega Chips: 0
Madness Chips: 0
BLJ Points: 3781k
1* Lvl 1 Streamers = 4,311
*Again, we've converted the streamers to tier 1 streamers for simplicity sake.
Now the experiment is done, just one question remains...
What is the Best VIP Ticket Amount For The Bad Luck Jackpot?
Using 1 VIP Ticket per spin is the best amount of VIP Tickets to use for the Bad Luck Jackpot. It gives you significantly more progress overall in terms of your Streamers, and also gives you more progress in your event artefacts.
Using 10 VIP Tickets per spin does give you more progress for your Pets, however, Streamers are more important than Pets, both in terms of making money from the game via the Blockchain building (they sell for more), but also in terms of making progress in the game via the Campaign Tower.
Spinning for 1 VIP Ticket can take a while, so a good trick is to hold down the 'Spin' button and let it spin automatically while you go AFK.
The Math
Alright, so this section breaks down the math for how I came to the answer above. I appreciate that not everyone wants to read the math, so feel free to skip this section if it's not your thing.
So, originally, I compared the rewards from the 1 and 10 VIP Tickets per spin to the Marketplace values. It said that the 1 VIP Ticket rewards were worth a total of 5,192,014 Gems, and that the 10 VIP Ticket rewards were worth a total of 10,839,450 Gems.
However, given how many Streamers were given from the 1 VIP Ticket test, that didn't look right to me, so I decided to investigate things more thoroughly.
Instead of using Marketplace Values, I figured I'd compare these rewards against Seasonal and Weekly Events, as these are some of the most important areas in the game when it comes to making progress.
Below is a list of what 1 and 10 VIP Tickets make up of their respective Special Events. Weekly Events were calculated using the Legendary difficulty for ease of calculation. I have left out Legendary Stars, Gems, and other currencies, as they were negligible.
1 VIP Ticket Per Spin (100 VIP Tickets)
Athene Coin Event - Gives 0.0476% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Bad Luck Jackpot Event - Gives 0.25% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Casino Chip Event - Gives 0.2256% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Community Chip Event - N/A (no Community Chips dropped)
Gem Event: Gives 0.0538% of a Lvl 8, 8* Streamer, Lvl 2, 7* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Get Lucky Event: - N/A (no Get Lucky Chips dropped)
Summon Event - N/A (no Kappa Scrolls dropped)
Upgrade Event - Gives 0.7332% of a Lvl 8, 8* Streamer, Lvl 2, 6* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
So after converting, the rewards add up to:
1.5471% of Lvl 9, 9* Streamer (I've included the tier 1s, tier 6s, tier 8 Streamers in this value)
0.2857% of Lvl 3, 6* Pet
0.0538% of Lvl 2, 7* Pet
0.7332% of Lvl 2, 6* Pet
1.31% of a Legendary Event Artifact
10 VIP Tickets Per Spin (100 VIP Tickets)
Athene Coin Event - Gives 0.1429% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Bad Luck Jackpot Event - Gives 0.0125% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Casino Chip Event - Gives 0.124% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Community Chip Event - Gives 0.1628% of a 9* Lvl 9 Streamer, 6* Lvl 3 Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Gem Event: Gives 0.0709% of a Lvl 8, 8* Streamer, Lvl 2, 7* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Get Lucky Event: - 0.025% of Lvl 9, 9* Streamer, Lvl 3 6* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Summon Event - 0.1429% of Lvl 9, 9* Streamer, Lvl 3, 6* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
Upgrade Event - Gives 0.1425% of a Lvl 8, 8* Streamer, Lvl 2, 6* Pet, Legendary Event Artifact
So after converting, the rewards add up to:
0.8672% of a Lvl 9, 9* Streamer (I've included the tier 1s, tier 5s, tier 8 Streamers in this value)
0.6101% of a Lvl 3, 6* Pet
0.0709% of a Lvl 2, 7* Pet
0.1425% of a Lvl 2, 6* Pet
0.8235% of a Legendary Event Artifact
So, it looks like using 1 VIP Tickets per spin wins out in the Streamer and Event Artifact category, and using 10 VIP Tickets wins out in the Pet category.
The 1 VIP Ticket per spin wins out quite massively in the Streamer category , and Streamers are more important than pets, both if you want to make money from the game via the Blockchain building (as Streamers are generally worth more than pets), and also if you want to make progress in the game, e.g. the Campaign Tower. Lets not also forget about the event artefact advantage too.
This difference also (easily) makes up for the Marketplace value discrepancy which I mentioned earlier.
Alright, now after all that math, I think I'll go treat myself to a coffee.
For real though, if you feel like you've learnt something, an upvote on this guide would help me out immensely 🙂
There are certain pet passive abilities that will allow you to maximise the amount of loot you get from the Bad Luck Jackpot:
So, the reason I've listed the first 2 abilities is because by spinning the Bad Luck Jackpot, you'll be completing achievements.
Here's some of the achievements you'll be completing:
So, the Achievement Specialist and Uncanny Luck abilities will help you maximise the loot from the achievements you get from spinning the Bad Luck Jackpot.
The Golden Ticket and Jackpot Buster abilities should be self explanatory.
So yeah, just remember to equip these abilities to your PogChamp and KappaPride pets when spinning the Bad Luck Jackpot.
Now, here's the thing, you should definitely equip these abilities when you plan on using your VIP Tickets to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot, however, the Bad Luck Jackpot is one of the lowest priority things in the game to change your pet abilities for, and instead you should be optimising your pet abilities around Weekly Events and passive Crypton generation.
So, how often should you change your pet abilities for the Bad Luck Jackpot?
No more often than every 3 months.
This is because every 3 months the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event occurs.
The Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event occurs around the following dates of each year:
- 23/07 - 30/07
- 03/09 - 10/09
- TBA
- TBA
So, the best strategy is to just stack up your VIP Tickets until the Bad Luck Jackpot special event occurs, and then the week before it occurs, change your pet abilities to maximise your loot from it.
Now, once again that the Bad Luck Jackpot is a very low priority feature to use your pet abilities on. If you think you need the extra abilities for your Weekly Events or passive Crypton generation, by all means use them on that instead.
If you have to miss changing your pet abilities for a Bad Luck Jackpot event, that's fine, just save your VIP Tickets until the next Bad Luck Jackpot special event. You won't loose any progress.
Always buy VIP Tickets from the Merchant, because you'll always get more VIP Tickets than it costs to buy.
You should also always buy VIP Tickets from the Marketplace.
Why?
Well, each VIP Ticket is priced at 38k Gems, and it requires 24,000 VIP Tickets to complete the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event.
38,000 * 24,000 = 912,000,000 Gems.
It will cost you 912,000,000 Gems to complete the Bad Luck Jackpot special event, and it gives you:
- 9 star level 9 Streamer
- 6 star level 3 pet
- Legendary Event Artefact
Now, lets compare that to a Legendary Weekly Event, lets use the Upgrade Event as an example.
The Legendary Upgrade Event requires 3,250 Get Lucky Chips to complete, and they sell on the Marketplace for 173k Gems each.
3,250 * 173,000 = 562,250,000 Gems
The Legendary Get Lucky Event gives you:
- 8-star level 8 Streamer
- 6-star level 2 Streamer
- Legendary Event Artefact
A 9-star level 9 streamer is worth 5x 8-star level 8 Streamers.
The Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event costs 1.62x more Gems to complete, but gives you WAY MORE rewards compared to the Legendary Get Lucky Event.
In fact, I've done the maths for all of the Weekly Events and the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event is more efficient than ALL weekly events.
So, while you should be buying TriHard Scrolls, Kappa Scrolls, Get Lucky Chips, and Streamers from the Marketplace (because you can complete them more frequently), you should also be buying VIP Tickets from the Marketplace too, because you can use them to complete the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event, which is actually more efficient per event compared to any of the Weekly Events themselves.
I would just like to clarify one final thing, earlier I said that the Bad Luck Jackpot is one of the lowest priority things to change your pet abilities for, and here I am saying that the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event is extremely good.
In one case I'm talking about the direct rewards and achievement rewards from spinning the Bad Luck Jackpot, and in the other case I'm talking about the Bad Luck Jackpot Special Event.
So, just to recap:
- Using 1 VIP Ticket per spin is the most efficient way to spin the Bad Luck Jackpot.
- Stack your VIP Tickets and swap your pet passive abilities for whenever the Bad Luck Jackpot Jackpot Special event is active (every 3 months)
- Always buy VIP Tickets from the Merchant and Marketplace.
Hope you learned something from this guide, once again, if you feel it deserves an upvote, that would be appreciated, it helps these guides out a lot!
